Kia Rio – Information & Reviews

The Kia Rio replaced the Kia Pride back in 2001 as Kia’s sub-compact car offering. The fourth generation of Rio was released in 2017. That MK IV version was later given a facelift in 2020 – at the same time as the Picanto’s re-styling. Unlike most other sub-compact cars the Kia Rio is available in 3 door and 5 door hatchback PLUS a regular 4 door saloon giving buyers plenty of choice.

We are in the process of negotiating with a major independent reviewer of cars. We hope to gain consent to republish their reviews shortly. This information & reviews page for the Kia Rio should be live in a few weeks. Kia Rio hatchback review – Carbuyer (2011 to 2014)

The Rio is Kia’s entry in the supermini class and a cheaper alternative to the Ford Fiesta. All-new for 2011, it continues Kia’s march upmarket and benefits from smart, contemporary styling, generous space inside and an appealing engine range — two diesels (1.1-litre and 1.4) and two petrols (1.25 and 1.4).

Kia Rio in-depth review – Carbuyer (2017 onwards)

The latest Kia Rio is a smartly, if conservatively-styled supermini that rivals cars like the Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia. There’s a range of petrol engines and a pair of economical diesels. With a big boot, the Kia Rio is practical and spacious, and owning one should be painless thanks to Kia’s seven-year warranty. Despite all this, it doesn’t excite like the best cars in this class – which offer agile handling – although it is comfortable on the move. In isolation, it’s a good car, but it suffers from the talents of rivals.
