The Toyota Yaris was released in 1999 and is still being produced now in it’s 4th generation. The Yaris is available as either a 3 door or 5 door hatchback with a variety of engine sizes from 1.0L to 1.8L in both Diesel and 16V petrol formats. The most popular version for a first car is the 3 door version in either the second generation (2006 to 2008) or third generation (2008 to 2011). The three door 1.0L VVT-i T2 is the perfect car for the new driver being a lowly insurance group 2. Check the insurance group of a specific model before purchasing as some Yaris, like the 1.4 D-4D T Spirit 3d, are rated insurance group 10

Toyota Yaris hatchback 2006 – 2011 review – CarBuyer
Toyota’s small car family has grown in recent times, with the addition of the Smart ForTwo rivalling iQ citycar. While the Yaris looks conservatively styled in comparison to the newcomer, it’s still a real contender for those who feel that the current crop of superminis is a little on the large side, but don’t want a tiny citycar like the Smart or iQ. Reliable, dependable and with a impressive safety rating, the Yaris that is spacious inside, but small enough to squeeze through the tightest city streets. A sliding rear bench, and interior trim that contains an antibacterial coating it’s also child friendly. With light steering and a supple ride, it’s best for town trips, but it’s still a capable motorway companion. Our favourite model is the diesel engined 1.4-litre D4-DCarBuyer
Toyota Yaris hatchback review – Carbuyer
The original Toyota Yaris was distinctive and fun, with plenty of space inside for passengers. The latest model is a solid and dependable car with a lot going for it – including plenty of space and standard equipment, but does it have what it takes to stand up to the competition? The Yaris comes with a range of frugal petrol and diesel engines, as well as an efficient hybrid, and is available with a choice of three or five doors.Car Buyer
